SUMMER CAMPS - In-Person
Architecture Summer Camp by the Southern California Chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects
- Structure: Four Saturdays in a row (must live locally)
- Location: East Los Angeles, CA
- Ages: 10-17
- What makes it unique: SoCal NOMA seeks to advance the education of those historically underrepresented in the field of architecture. Applications are required; the cost is minimal.
Girls Garage
- Structure: Builder Bootcamp (Middle School) is one week of half-days; Young Women’s Design and Building Institute (High School) is one week of full days.
- Location: Berkeley, CA
- Ages: Middle and high school students
- What makes it unique: Girls Garage is a design and construction school for girls and gender-expansive youth. The cost is free or miniml, and scholarships are offered.
Teen Arch Studio by UCLA
- Structure: Three weeks, Monday through Friday; students can commute or live in the UCLA dormitories
- Location: Los Angeles, CA
- Ages: High school students
- What makes it unique: This camp is fully immersive and provides a glimpse into what life is like as an undergraduate architecture student. Expect the coursework and workload to be challenging but rewarding. There is also a virtual option!

CLASSES - VIRTUAL
Architecture 101 Camp by OutSchool
- Structure: Four 40-minute classes (one week)
- Ages: 9-14
- What makes it unique: This highly rated Outschool class for younger teens offers flexible start times. During the class students will design and draw a building, but the course does not focus on technical drawing.
Getting Started in Architecture by OutSchool
- Structure: One hour per week for nine weeks
- Ages: 12-17
- What makes it unique: A great Outschool option for older teens. Students will design their dream home and will create plans, sections, elevations, and details on graph paper.
Drafting Foundations via LinkedIn Learning
- Structure: A series of short videos totaling approximately two hours of lecture time.
- Ages: Technically for adults; recommended for high school and up.
- What makes it unique: This can be taken at your own pace and covers the fundamentals of hand drafting.
